Monday, July 9th, 2024 We are devastated to hear about the passing of a dear Richmond Kickers YSC staff member and friend, Alba Amaya. She was the beloved partner of our wonderful Kickers staff member Herbert Guillen and the loving mother of 4 (Christopher, Anthony, Katelyn and Lisandro), not to mention the multiple young players she “mothered” whilst coaching.

Alba has been an intricate part of our recreation and travel programs in helping supervise Providence fields during the rec season, helping with tryouts for travel and coaching rec teams for many years supporting her partner Herbert Guillen.  Even while working full time and helping our programs, she would also make time to take her children Christopher, Anthony to travel practices and games and Katelyn & Lisandro to rec practices and games each week.

Recreation Director, Incy Teoh states “Alba was always willing to help in any way she could and had a big heart.  I would often get a text or email from her about a player who could not afford to play on her team, and she would offer to pay or give her free registration to them so every child can play soccer.  She gave time to anyone and everyone. Even when Hispanic speaking families needed help, she was the first one I called and she quickly took over to help me get them registered and made instant friends with them.  Her big smile and warm nature would be a welcoming sight every time we saw her at the fields and she was loved and known by so many families whom she introduced to the club.  She had a way of making you feel like family with her warm big hugs and personality. Alba reflected what our club is about, and she will be dearly missed by so many!”

Director of Operations, Tish Schrock adds “Alba truly represented in every way shape and form the heart of our club with her passion for the game, and foremost her passion for her family and all children in the community.  This community has lost someone very important and adored.   My heart breaks for her family as she was the Matriarch of the Guillen/Amaya partnership.”

Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club would like your support in raising funds to help Herbert and the family with extra expenses at this time as they navigate this sudden tragedy and loss. We can’t replace her, but at least we can try to help in any possible way.   Please contribute to: Go Fund Me Link that the family has set up to help continue to fund her children’s futures, funeral expenses and help with all of the families expenses.
