Teams perform well versus ECNL National Competition

U15 Elite Red:

The U15 Boys Elite Red team had a very competitive weekend against top teams from New Jersey, North Carolina & Pennsylvania. All the games were close in score, providing excellent competition for our U15's.

Honorable Mentions: Charlie Berndt, who was promoted to the U15 Red Team this spring, opened his goal scoring account for the team with a wonderful first-time finish against New Jersey’s STA team. Nathan D’ Souza scored from a well worked team goal, involving seven passes on the counter-attack, against Charlotte SA. Jordan Matthews showed his quality in goal as he had a very strong performance producing a string of important saves throughout the weekend.

U16 Elite Red:

Game 1: In the first game of the Jefferson Cup, the Richmond Kickers Red Elite clashed with Colorado Rapids at River City Sportsplex. The Kickers showcased their superiority, controlling ball possession for a large portion of the game. A significant moment arrived when Ronan Quigley stayed calm under pressure to drill home a well-earned penalty. Not to be overshadowed, Henry, pulled off a series of top-notch saves, keeping the game competitive. The highlight among the Rapids was the unimpressive frosted-tips mohawk forward who did nothing but run after the Kicker's defense.  The resulting 1-1 draw was a disappointment despite the Kickers having the edge throughout the match.

Game 2: A windy and rain-soaked morning set the stage for the second game as the Kickers faced off against Brentwood SC from Long Island, NY. The Kickers found themselves behind after two breakaway first-half goals by their larger opponents. Despite this, the Kickers came back strong in the second half, primarily controlling possession with Nico Register finally finding the net off a Will Richter assist. A potential equalizer grazed the post, culminating in a hard-fought 2-1 defeat that could have easily ended in a draw.

Game 3: The Kickers bounced back, staging an impressive face-off against Baltimore Celtic showcasing the personality and tactics of their coach Leigh Cowlishaw. The Kickers, despite some injuries and soreness, took the reins early on, with Stratton Reeves netting the first goal, thanks to a skillful endline run and assist from Ronan. Celtic answered back with a goal off a cheap penalty kick, but the Kickers maintained their offensive momentum. Will Richter, in a standout performance, delivered two stunning goals in the second half. His first, beautifully curled into the far-right corner, was courtesy of an assist by Nick Nader. His second came in a quick reply to a Celtic goal off a well-executed cross from Derek Londeree to make it 3-2. Not to be outdone, Londeree himself stepped up to confidently convert a late penalty, sealing a convincing 4-2 victory for the Kickers.

U17 Elite Red:

The U17 Boys Elite Red team finished the Jefferson Cup undefeated with 3 ties. Friday's game ended 1-1 vs Blau Weiss Gottshee NY (goal scored by Jafeth Camacho), Saturday's game ended 1-1 vs TGE Minnesota 1-1 (goal scored by Jafeth Camacho), Sunday's game was against eventual Bracket champions FSC Storm MD which ended 2-2 (goals scored by Thomas Ingram & Jafeth Camacho.)
