RICHMOND, Va. – (Friday, July 7th, 2023) – The Richmond Kickers Youth Club is pleased to announce the addition of Errin Stanton as Director of Goalkeeping and Caleb Carpenter as Grassroots Goalkeeper Trainer effective August 1st, 2023. Stanton will lead the efforts to develop the club’s travel goalkeepers while Carpenter will focus on Recreational, ADP and U9/10 players.

He has coached goalkeepers at the High School, Elite Club and semi-professional levels. Most recently he oversaw the Goalkeepers for the Charlotte Soccer Academy North program working with their ECNL Regional and Classic goalkeepers.

Stanton, commented, “I am very excited to have this opportunity with an organization such as the Richmond Kickers! The Kickers have a rich history in soccer and I’m looking forward to working with Leigh and his staff. My goal is to develop relationships with the goalkeepers in the club and provide them with tools to become the best version of themselves.”

“Errin is a welcome addition to the club’s coaching staff,” commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Youth Club Executive Director. He comes highly recommended and his extensive playing, coaching and collegiate experience will be invaluable as we continue to improve our GK program.” “Errin is committed to making our goalkeeper program one of the best in the region and we look forward to providing him with the resources to make that happen.”

Carpenter is a former Chesterfield United youth goalkeeper who played competitively for Matoaca High School, Richard Bland Junior College and Averett University. Carpenter will oversee the Kickers new grassroots goalkeeper initiative that will focus on providing fun, game-like Goalkeeper experiences for the club’s recreational, ADP and U9/10 players. He is currently the Women’s Varsity, Boys Middle School and Goalkeeper Coach for The Steward School and will also be the Head Coach for two Kickers travel teams this upcoming season.

"I am super excited to get to work with Kickers not only as a coach, but as a Goalkeeper trainer as well,” Carpenter said, “It's truly an exciting opportunity to not only share my love for the position, but also my love of the game as a whole. I know Errin is going to take our Kickers goalkeeper group to a higher level, and I am happy to be working with him to advance that. Just simply can't wait to get started!"

“Caleb impressed everyone during the recruitment process. He is a mature, professional individual way beyond his years and a great fit for this role.  We plan on offering more opportunities to our young players to experience the unique skills, decision making, and confidence needed to play the goalkeeper position.  It’s an exciting initiative and we can’t wait for our players to see how fun and challenging playing goalkeeper can be,” commented Cowlishaw.
