KICKERS UNVEIL NEW AND IMPROVED ADP PROGRAM

The Richmond Kickers are excited to announce an innovative new format to the Advanced Development Program (ADP) designed for players born in 2013, 2014 and 2015.  The primary focus of the ADP program is to create a fun and inspirational training environment where players can be introduced to the beautiful game.  “As a parent of a player in this age group I thought a lot about what I want my sons practice to look like” commented ADP Director Ross Mackenzie “I want him to get lots of touches, lots of opportunities to dribble, to score goals and most importantly I want him to be excited to go back.  Our updated curriculum and changes to the format will help meet those goals.”

Now Open to U6 Players

Starting this Fall, ADP will be open to U6 players in addition to the usual U7/8 age groups.  This will provide our players the opportunity to learn from Kickers Travel coaches and pro players from U5 all the way through to U9/10 Travel.

Reality Based Methodology

At this age, kids just want to play games.  Training sessions will be game-based with plenty of 1v1’s, 2v2’s and games to goal.  This player centric approach helps develop creative soccer players and mirrors the philosophy which has been so successful for the Belgium national team. Most importantly the players will have fun while they learn.

Convenient Weekday Format

Each of our geographical locations will meet twice a week (River City and Bryan Park Tuesday-Thursday, Ukrop Park and Collegiate Monday-Wednesday) with an additional 4 Friday night festivals featuring games between each of our ADP locations.

Friday Festival Nights

Held four times a season, festival nights will include games against other ADP locations in two different formats.  Two of the festivals will be 4v4 games on grass or turf at Ukrop Park while the remaining two festivals will be held indoors as we introduce our U6-8 players to Futsal.  Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and the high paced, technically focused game is a big part of our Travel curriculum. Lastly, our festivals nights at Ukrop Park will include food trucks providing a fun and entertaining event for the whole family.

Winter Futsal Teams

Interested ADP players will have the opportunity to play more Futsal over the Winter as we enter Kickers ADP age teams into the Futsal RVA Winter League.

Discounted Full Season Registration Option

New for Fall 2020, parents now have the opportunity to register for the full year at a discounted rate.  Full year includes the Fall and Spring (16 practices, 16 games and 8 Festivals) for $450.  Seasonal registration is still an option and includes an individual season Fall or Spring (8 practices, 8 games and 4 Festivals) for $250.

“Obviously, the past few months we have been unable to be out on the field which our ADP staff have greatly missed”  added Mackenzie “This period has given us time to evaluate our programs and deliver an improved product for our families moving forward.”
