Teams Prepare for League Play this Weekend

RICHMOND, VA – (Monday, December 2, 2019) – Richmond Kickers Futsal is finally here and in full swing! Entering into our third Futsal season, we have seen an enormous increase of interest from our membership. We currently have 253 players and counting, which has created 32 teams compared to our first year at 185 players and 18 teams.

Our growth is only possible due to the continued support of our membership and the tireless efforts of our dedicated staff. Our teams include players from our current Kickers travel program from U9-U15 girls and boys. Almost a third of our eligible travel players play in our Futsal program. Of that pool, we have been able to create 20 boys teams and 12 girls teams at various levels, with all of them competing in the Futsal RVA Winter League this season. Our technical staff believes with the improved format of our program we are able to offer smaller rosters which provides increased playing time, a better training environment, and stronger teams in each level. We have been able to allocate more training space for our teams, which leads to a more enhanced learning environment for our players. Along with developments for our players, we have developed an experienced Futsal coaching staff as well. They have received online coaching for Futsal specifically, along with being issued new equipment to assist them in delivering the best educational experience possible for our teams.

On December 1, Kickers Futsal teams had a full day of in-house scrimmages at Celebration Church. Richmond Kickers Futsal Director, Ross Mackenzie reflected on the day adding “Sunday’s in-house scrimmages were excellent preparation for the first weekend of league games. Lots of competitive, high quality games throughout the day and our players are excited to get the Winter Futsal season underway.” The 2019-2020 RVA Futsal League begins this upcoming weekend
