ADP Program Details

Program Goals

  • Provide a fun and enjoyable learning environment for U6-8 players
  • Develop a passion and enthusiasm for the game of soccer
  • Developmental Goals
  1. Technical – Dribbling, passing, shooting etc
  2. Tactical – Decision making, understanding of space
  3. Physical – Speed, agility, balance, coordination
  4. Psychosocial – Respect, discipline, perseverance 
     

Program Format

  • Locations meet twice a week one training session, one game.
  • 2 ADP Festivals held throughout each season season where all ADP locations participate and play games against each other.  
  • Festivals will include regular 3v3 and/or 4v4 games.
  • Seasonal sign ups (Fall or Spring) 
  • Skills of the Week sent out to families prior to the season and worked on during training sessions

What do we want from our ADP players?

  • Excited to come to training and games
  • Freedom to try new things and be creative with the ball – lots of dribbling opportunities and 1v1’s
  • Excited to learn new skills at each session
  • Excited to score goals and see other teammates have success
  • Play with a smile on their face!
     

Training Sessions

  • Players will be split into groups and train with players of similar ability.
  • Groups of 6-8 players with a coach at each session.
  • Emphasis on dribbling and scoring goals - lots of game related activities.  
  • Learning transitional moments in the game (when we lose the ball, when we win the ball).
  • Examples of training activities - what we do and why we do it!
     

Examples of Training Activities

Games

  • Game nights will include a mixture of 3v3 and 4v4 games
  • Players will play in all positions to learn the game from different perspectives
  • Understanding of formations and positions will take the players time to understand and will improve over the course of the season
     

Examples of Game Formations

  • 3v3 (1 Defender, 2 attackers)
  • 4v4 (Defender, 2 Wide Midfielders and a Forward)

Futsal

  • During the Fall, players will be introduced to Futsal and have the option to play over the winter.
  • Futsal is one of the fastest growing games on the planet and it’s fast paced, high energy format provides technical and tactical benefits for young players.
     

Parents - Practices and Games

  • Be Supportive of all players and coaches
  • Let the coaches do their job
  • Watch for gradual improvements
  • Relax and enjoy watching your child play the game they love!
